A ruler application for macOS
I’m running Sheepshaver on a Jessie Raspbian Pixel install. When I try and install Ma OS 9.0.4 onto the mac hard drive I’ve created – Sheepshaver crashes and closes. I double click on Mac OS9 install on the mounted CD ROM Updating hard disc drivers completes, but as soon as it starts Installing to drive mac, Sheepshaver just crashes. Fundamental Mac desktop and windowing features are added, and touch controls are adapted to the keyboard and mouse. By default, your app will scale to match the iPad’s resolution. On macOS Big Sur, you can choose “Optimize interface for Mac” to use the Mac idiom, running your app using the native resolution on Mac. This gives you full control of every pixel on the screen and allows your app to adopt more controls specific to Mac, such as pull-down menus and checkboxes. The Retina 5K iMac models from the 'Late 2014,' 'Mid-2015,' 'Late 2015,' 'Mid-2017,' '2019' and '2020' lines all have a 5120x2880 native resolution, but by default run 'pixel doubled' at a setting that looks like 2560x1440, it just has four times the detail of a 'traditional' display. CoolstarOrg, a genius at getting other OSes up and running on Chrome OS hardware, has written a detailed guide on how owners of the Acer C720 can install Mac OS X 10.11 ‘El Capitan’ on their Chromebook.
A timely “hackintosh” report, all told. It was just over a year ago that we reported on CoolStar’s effort to get OS X 10.9 Mavericks up and running on an the exact same Chromebook.
Sure, there are caveats and practicality issues, but it’s a great case of “…because why not?”. Chromebooks are basic Intel-based PCs: they can run Linux, they can run Windows, so it’s no surprise that they can also run Mac OS X.

You will need an Acer C720 with an Intel Core i3-4005U and 4 GB RAM to follow along, as this chipset is the one most compatible with OS X (requiring only a few minor tweaks).
Raspbian Pixel Os
You’ll also need a a user-upgraded 64 GB (or higher) SSD and a legit copy of Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan ready to boot from a USB.
Don’t expect miracles once you’ve jumped through the required hoops, either. Trackpad scrolling is described as “poor and choppy”, and hackintoshers report patchy Wi-Fi issues.
